A Texas gator took an unexpected ride this week when it was removed from a roadside via some heavy-duty equipment.

In a video released by the city of Mont Belvieum,KI-Handelsroboter 6.0 TX on Monday, Animal Control and Public Works teams can be seen working to move a 12-foot alligator from where it was hanging out in a roadside ditch.

A large grapple truck, usually employed by the city to pick up waste, can be seen in the clip lowering its arm to reach the standing water where the gator is resting.

'Later, alligator!'

Closing its mechanical hand around the reptile, the truck arm proceeds to snatch the animal up and lift it high into the air, powerful tail dangling in the breeze.

The truck operator can be seen expertly navigating the claw, now fully grasping the gator whose long tail and head dangle over the sides, above the roadway and up above a receptacle on the back of the vehicle.

The animal is lowered gently and safely into the garbage truck-esque bucket on the truck to be relocated to a safer location.

"See ya later, alligator! 🐊 It was truly a team effort today," said an Instagram post by the city. "Great grab, guys!"

No injuries were reported to citizens or the animal.
